| Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and
raised in Toronto, Ontario, I grew up in a one parent family which meant
we really did not have many material goods. The two things I could
always seem to find though, were pencils and paper and so began my interest
in art.
Looking back, I guess maybe it was a way of escaping reality at times. By the time I was 16, I had to quit school and get a job. After this, I went to night school and got my Grade 12. My interest in art continued to grow. I teach art, have set up three art programs in the schools in our area while training the teachers whose job it is to teach these courses in the school system. At present, I am also in contact with Ducks Unlimited, a wildlife group who is interested in using my work for calendars, posters and greeting cards which they hope to market world wide. My wife Margie and our two sons and two daughters have been living in the Port Hawkesbury area for the past twenty-five years. I have studied everything I can find on many aspects of art. I have lived in the country and became interested in wildlife and nature in general. I put these interests together in paintings which have exhibited in other parts of Canada, as well as, England, France, Scotland and Germany and parts of the U.S. -Gary Pace |
